Pageviews are (almost) pointless.
It doesn’t make any sense to focus on pageviews (an approximation for value) when you can measure the real thing directly… There’s also a clear pattern in the direction the Web is heading - toward interaction and responsiveness, and away from separate pages… When you’re deciding how to incorporate analytics into your strategy, the most important thing is that you are gathering actionable data. By this I mean that you have to be able to use the information you gather to make a decision and take action. If you’re not going to use it to make a decision, it’s a waste of time to even look at it.
